Interpretation of ‘Al-Falah’ in Adhan

13/02/2013 11:35

During the call for Salah, the one phrase that is attractive, persuasive and thought provoking is Hayyah Al-Alfalah (Come towards Salvation). This is one of the most important phrases of Adhan, and different people put forward different interpretations of word Falah.

The word Falah literally means salvation. However, the type of salvation is interpreted differently by different groups of people. Similarly, it is imperative that those who read Quran online(https://www.quranreading.com) must know about the meaning of verses as well. The lines below give the best interpretation of Falah.

Salvation is a relative term and varies from person to person. For instance, for a sick person, salvation would mean he becoming healthy and all the pain and agony fading away. For a poor person, salvation would mean he getting enough food to fill the stomach, facilities available for him to live life with ease and never to face the days of hunger would be salvation.

If the Falah, in Adhan be interpreted, then it can be interpreted as liberation. As Adhan is the call for Salah, and Salah liberates a person from everything that has a negative connotation associated with it. liberation from sins, liberation from darkness, liberation from worries and woes, liberation from hell and all other liberations come from Salah. Thus, the Salvation provided by Salah means liberation for a believer.

In Quran, Allah Almighty says:

“The Believers must (eventually) win through.”  (23:1)

This ayah of Quran shows that the believers are the ones who will eventually win, and this Salvation is their win which will come from the means of Salah. Therefore, the word Falah, means Salvation for a believer, and Salvation for him means liberation from the what Quran has called evil and the resultant hell, and win on what Quran has called the blessings and eventually entering Paradise.

How Must Muslims Respond To The Anti-Naqab Law In France?

30/11/2012 14:44

In the world of today, when any one speaks of enlightenment and civilization, the first place or name that comes to mind is the West and the countries of the West. These countries greatly promote enlightenment and all the aspects associated with it such as justice, freedom of speech and so on.

However, when it comes to standing for their word, we see deviation in the stand of the Western world in some cases. One prominent example of such cases is the ban on niqab in France and the passing of anti-niqab law. This shows the injustice and subjective enlightenment of France. However, their injustice aside, what should a Muslim do in this case?

women naqab

The Muslim women must do what Muslims have been doing since centuries; they need to find refuge in Quran and ask from Allah Almighty for His support. The former is increasing in Europe with Muslims availing the live Quran learning facility now available online. However, for the later Muslims need to have faith in Allah Almighty and know that He never supports injustice and falsehood. As Allah the Omnipotent says in Quran:

“We hurl the Truth against falsehood, and it knocks out its brain, and behold, falsehood perishes! Woe be to you for the (false) things you ascribe (to Us).” [Quran, 21:18]

This ayah clearly shows that Allah Almighty is always on the side of truth, and when truth with the support of Allah Almighty strikes falsehood, the latter perishes. So, the Muslim women in France need not to worry, rather ask for help from Allah Almighty, and sooner or later they shall see the help of God and falsehood falling to ground.

The second thing that Muslims in France need to do is to support each other and stay firm to their stance. Allah Almighty says in Quran:

“O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.” [Quran 47:7]

In this ayah, Allah Almighty instructs the believers to stay firm and to support each other in the way of Allah. Firstly, if the law does not allow them, then the naqab-wearing women must use other forms of it such as, smog masks, and must not abandon naqab completely out of fear. Secondly, other not-naqab-wearing women must support their Muslim sisters so that they united can send a message to authorities, and Allah will definitely support them.

In short, the Muslims of France need not to panic, rather they must have Faith in Allah Almighty, and hold firm to their stance in the most legitimate ways possible, and Allah will support them and make them rise over falsehood and injustice.
